Des Spencer

Explosion of color and vibrant, bold strokes comprise artist Des Spencer’s unique original paintings. His rich impasto style of applying paint so thickly that the knife strokes can be seen impresses the viewer immediately. His still life “Florals” burst with life, beauty and energy. His “Rainforest” renditions take one into an awesome new world with the music of waterfalls, towering trees and hidden animals. Aerial images command exploration with the modern impressionism in this “City Scapes.” Many years of diving and snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef have provided endless and vibrant models for his “Fish” series.

In 1963 Des was born in the very heart of outback Australia, Ipswich, Queensland. At an early age Des had a common sense about living and the pursuit of success. As a boy, Des enjoyed fishing and had a passion for catching big fish with big hooks. On most days he didn’t catch anything, but on those days when he did, it was always a big fish. During

those times Des often dreamed of being successful; he often envisioned a career that would be fueled by creativity and fun and big fish. His family and friends fondly nicknamed him, “The Dreamer.”

The dreaming of Des Spencer turned into reality. His life, his art, and his mind are fueled by creativity. Apart from the tutoring of his uncle, Des is a self-taught artist. He knew from his very first painting, “that the passion and sense of accomplishment it produced within me would propel my energies towards a career as a professional artist.”

Des resides with his wife and two children in the beautiful northern tropical coast of Australia.
