Steve Barton's Conception and Design of the "Wavy"

The Wavy Frame debuted in 1999 and was designed by Steve to integrate the frame into the work of art, creating a single unit. It started as an idea while experimenting on a still life canvas. Steve saw that the canvas could retain three dimensional characteristics. In conjunction with the frame, he saw this technique as a way of unifying and enhancing his paintings. His goal was to see the entire piece as a work of art.

In addition, it separated itself from traditional type pieces by extruding from the surface of the wall becoming a form which resonates to its surroundings. In fact, its effect exemplified Steve's goal and has has become a recognized and popular signature of his work. The completely original and unique design set The Wavy Frame and Steve Barton apart in the world of art.
